Votizen, a new startup aiming to unite the political and social media realms, asked JESS3 to help raise awareness for an issue they hope to bring to center stage in the next political cycle: the Start Up Visa, which would allow foreign-born entrepreneurs to bring their companies to the U.S. if they create American jobs. The resulting was a series of unexpected and visually arresting posters that stood out against the visual noise of SXSW. While other posters around the Austin Convention Center displayed glossy photos and the newest technical gadgetry, the Startup Visa series was a nostalgic nod to the "spirit posters" of World War II and the 1950s, recapturing the sense of civic duty and pride they represented: a sort of Rosie The Riveter for the 21st Century.
