Startup Mixology Infographic

At Tech Cocktail’s latest Startup Mixology Conference, each speaker shared one of the key ingredients that go into starting and running a successful business: company culture, personality / authenticity, marketing delight, PR, momentum, launching, design, bootstrapping, entrepreneurship / perseverance, execution, team, relationship, and community.

Wanting to share the great takeaway with the rest of the world, Tech Cocktail’s founders Jen Consalvo and Frank Gruber worked with JESS3 to visualize the indispensable advice in the shape of their logo’s signature martini cocktail glass. We also got a little cheeky and added a napkin as the “strategy” ingredient—as any good entrepreneur has certainly scribbled their ideas on the back of a napkin or two in their day.

The event’s speakers, which included JESS3’s own Leslie Bradshaw, provided practical advice, laughs and lessons and injected the event with a strong sense of community, accomplishment and support among DC’s tech entrepreneurs.

Highlights of the evening included Alexis Juneja, co-founder of Curbed, who used dating as a metaphor to explain business development (meeting people, ask questions, buy dinner, celebrate anniversaries). Uber CEO Travis Kalanick also gave his share of good advice through telling the story of his personal success and failures.

The State of the Internet Nominated for a Webby

The nominations for the 15th annual Webby Awards have been announced and the JESS3 team has been included in the "Online Film & Video - Technology" nominees for the State of the Internet video alongside some amazing amazing projects from WSJ, The New York Times and Engadget. Voting is open to the public this year through the Webby's People's Voice Award site.

TEDxYouth Comes to DC

Organized by Teens and Tech, which was founded by JESS3's own Daniel Brusilovsky, the event brought an important focus to the entrepreneurial spirit and abilities of young people. Hosted at AT&T, themes including the environment, technology and community were woven throughout.

Notes Shasta Darlington of CNN: "They are an exclusive group of globe-trotting Internet investors, startup founders and tech junkies. Or you can just call them 'Geeks on a Plane.'" JESS3's Founder and CEO was one of said "geeks" who not only met with numerous entrepreneurs on the trip and throughout South America, but he also served as the trip's executive creative director where he lead the development of the trip's official comic book / "zine" and collateral. JESS3 Designs Posters for Google's New LA Office

To celebrate the opening of its new offices, Google LA approached frequent design partner JESS3 to create 13 movie-sized posters, one for each of the major engineering efforts at the LA site that would live beyond the opening event in November. The result is a group of fun illustrated infographics which tell the story of the processes behind Ad Sense, Chrome, and Google+ photo sharing and more.

TBS Taps JESS3 to Let the World Vote for Conan O'Brien's First Guest

JESS3 designed and developed a site within Teamcoco.com which enables the public to vote for Conan O'Brien's first guest, from the Pope to Justin Bieber, through Twitter.
