Issue 2 Cover

The Project: Social Media Monthly, a new publication reporting on the ever-changing social landscape, reached out to JESS3 to create the cover for its issue featuring Google+. The cover story looks at the newest social entrant’s likelihood to overtake Facebook.

Our Methodology: We knew immediately we wanted to depict the conflict in a literal way: be it a shootout, knife fight or extraterrestrial invasion. Although it’s a battle and battles generally have victors, we were careful not to editorialize by placing either social network in a dominant light.

The Results: The characters Google+ and Facebook, draped in their signature colors and respective insignia, square off in a colorful illustration. Bonus: We designed the Monthly’s nameplate and QR code, too!

Jesse Thomas Gives Expert Advice to Marketing Land

JESS3’s founder, Jesse Thomas, sat down with Marketing Land as one of 8 industry experts, including other designers and top level executives, to answer the questions “What makes an excellent infographic?” and “What should my expectations be for an infographic?” Jesse stressed in his answers that infographics need to be beautiful, but also meaningful and have the data to back them up, because “the primary purpose of an infographic is to spark informed conversation and action.” He also noted that “An infographic should be intelligent and tell the audience something they don’t already know, but say it with words and terms they do.”

JESS3 and Blackboard Collaborate on Visualizing the Active Learner

As a part of our ongoing commitment to create content as a public service, we had the opportunity to partner with Blackboard to visualize the "Active Learner" in the context of the state of education experience. As Blackboard notes on their blog: "Digital natives become the majority in classrooms and lecture halls, we are at critical turning point in education. What’s that light around the corner? A world where everyone in education can access infinite teaching tools, information, and analytics from anywhere at any time. A world where all kinds of education activities, from discussions to lectures to collaboration, can be done virtually."

JESS3 Joins the Society of Digital Agencies (SoDA)

JESS3 has joined the roster of the Society of Digital Agencies. SoDA membership is invitation-only, comprised of 60 top digital agencies and elite production companies – with offices in 24 countries. “We are thrilled to welcome JESS3 to the prestigious ranks of SoDA membership,” said Chris Buettner, Director of Operations. SoDA members in Russia, Brazil, and North America commended JESS3 in the full member vote. JESS3 Co-founder, President and Chief Operating Officer Leslie Bradshaw spoke about the honor, “To think that we are now a part of SoDA – and among agencies like Made by Many, Resn, and Phenomblue - is a dream come true.”

MTV Taps JESS3 as Digital Partner for the First O Music Awards

MTV — the network that has defined the music industry for 30 years teamed up with digital partner JESS3 to give a voice to the people with the inaugural O Music Awards. In celebration of the new ways we all experience and consume music, the awards show was designed to be Open, Ongoing and Online — pressing pause twice a year to recognize and reward fans, artists and technologists.

Google Earth reached 1 billion downloads and asked the infographic experts at JESS3 to help commemorate the milestone. We selected the “Around the world in 60 seconds” concept to add a story-telling dimension to the infographic while highlighting the ease and speed with which users can explore some of the most fascinating parts of the globe.
