The Discovery Channel celebrated its 25th anniversary by launching a mini-site called My Discovery. In order to make the My Discovery experience truly interactive and modern, Discover tapped JESS3’s social media data visualization experts. The resulting site is a rich-media showcase of tweets, photos and videos describing simple and complex discoveries alike — submitted by viewers.
By clicking a photo, users are able to “dive deeper” and see the accompanying description of that particular discovery, or in the case of a video, watch the video. Users are able to sort by trending topics from within the aggregated data, and enter their own custom search terms. Items that were featured online are forever tagged with “Online Feature” and for the lucky few that were aired on Television, their discoveries have been tagged with “Featured on TV” badges.
