Students Cast Their Vote Infographic

PROJECT: Visualizing trends among young people’s perspectives surrounding the 2012 Presidential election, educational social network Edmodo partnered with JESS3 to illustrate their online students’ opinions and interests during the campaign.

METHODOLOGY: JESS3 deployed a fun, playful style in the Infographic and socially-optimized graphics to celebrate the students whose voices are being heard. Using online polls from Edmodo’s message boards, JESS3 was able to visualize results, capturing a snapshot of young people’s thoughts throughout the campaign. The graphics were also a great teaching tool for educators in Edmodo’s educational network to compare countrywide opinions and polls to those of their students.

Fast Company and JESS3 Partner for Occupy Wall Street Infographic

As the Occupy Wall Street protest reached its 7th week, Fast Company got exclusive access to research by Harrison Schultz, who helped develop occupywallst.org, and Professor Hector R. Cordero-Guzman from the School of Public Affairs at Baruch College and partnered with the visualization experts at JESS3 to create an infographic.

Originally created for CauseShift, the compelling JESS3 infographic gains traction, most recently being featured on Co.Exist. In an article titled, "Infographic: Untangling The Web Of Poverty, Obesity, And Food,"editor Morgan Clendaniel says , This new infographic, by Jess3 for CauseShift, attempts to draw some more concrete connections between poverty and obesity, and also highlights another concept: food insecurity." Comprised of data from states in the U.S., the infographic compares a state’s obesity rate, food assistance rate, poverty rate, and food insecurity level.
